Protein bars have become an indispensable tool for those looking to maintain a protein-packed diet in today's fast-paced world. They offer a convenient and tasty way to meet your daily protein requirements. Whether you're an athlete, busy professional in need of a quick snack or simply someone striving for a healthier lifestyle - protein bars are extremely efficient. However, with the proliferation of protein bars on the market, choosing the right one can be difficult. The options seem endless, each claiming to be the best. So, how do you make an informed choice?

In this blog, we're diving deep into the realm of protein bars. We'll explore the key factors to consider when making your selection, from calories and macronutrients to ingredients. By the time you finish reading, you'll be armed with the knowledge you need to pick the perfect protein bar that aligns with your nutritional goals and tastes great too. Let's embark on this journey of protein discovery together.

Calories

Calories

Depending on your goal, calories play an enormous role into what your outcome will be. Just because it notes “Protein” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be beneficial to your muscle building goals! Protein bars can often range anywhere from around 100 calories up to 500! Depending on your goal, it is extremely important to do the due diligence and ensure you take a look at the nutritional label to ensure you aren’t throwing off your progress for no reason!

Macronutrients

Macronutrients and calories certainly come hand in hand, especially when we’re talking about building muscle! While something may be “low-calorie” we have to still take consideration of the macronutrients to ensure we are fueling our body with the necessary nutrients. For example, take two individuals consuming an average of 2000 kilocalories per day. The individual consuming a well-balanced diet inclusive of wholefoods that have a wide range of macronutrients will look and feel dramatically different to the other individual consuming 2000 kilocalories of ultra-processed foods that lack a wide range of macronutrients. When looking at protein bars (again depending on your goal) it is important to ensure that the bars you consume, align with what your macronutrient goals are. Just because it has protein in it, doesn’t necessarily make it healthy!

Ingredients

Ingredients

Ingredients in protein bars are extremely important! A common occurrence that scares consumers away is the multitude of ingredients listed. It’s important to note that the amount of ingredients shouldn’t scare you, but more so what ingredients are included. A common tactic that companies use is the failure to list all ingredients. No matter what the content is, characterizing the ingredients ensures you know exactly what you’re consuming in the protein bar. Having a clear listed ingredient list is something we take pride in at EQ Food.

That’s why we’re coming out with our own protein bar to be released Early October. Full reveal coming soon...
